USOC COO Norman Bellingham presents USA Olympic flag at USNWC
April 26, 2007
Following the last training runs prior to the 2007 USA Slalom Team Trials, the USA Olympic flag was unfurled over the slalom course at the US National Whitewater Center here in Charlotte, NC.
USOC COO Norman Bellingham did the honors after speaking briefly of his start in paddling with whitewater boating at age 12, his kayaking at age 17 on the 1972 Olympic course at Augsburg, Germany, and his dream of someday having a similar course in the United States. Norman did not mention his own Olympic dreams-come-true, his Olympic medals, or of his role as a model of achievement, hard work and vision for all of the US paddling and Olympic community.

Foz do Iguassu, Brazil
March 9, 2007
With the arrival yesterday of paddlers Jim Wade, Jeff Larimer, and Tad Dennis, we await only one athlete, Ryan Bahn, to make our team complete.
Training continues to go well as all athletes have learned the river and are well on their way to understanding the rhythm and pacing necessary to best execute moves in each section.
Some athletes are wearing sunscreen for the first time, and all are experts at hydration. With small refrigerators in each room, we freeze bottles of water for use as cooling packs and to drink as they thaw out.
The hotel has all that we need, with the fridges, air-conditioning, in-house restaurant, swimming pool and a busy internet center in the lobby. We are located about a 10 minute drive from the course, and outside of the busiest city center.
International Training for Pan American Continental Championships is Underway!
March 5, 2007, was sunny with temps in the high 90s and humidity to match. Athletes from around the world braved the heat to train on the Itaipu whitewater channel near the town of Foz do Iguassu, Brazil. Sporting a variety of national and sponsor logos as well as varying degrees of sunburn, tan and brilliant winter-white skin, paddlers from Germany, USA, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Canada, Austria, Netherlands, Switzerland, Russia, Czech Republic, and several other Pan American nations tested the currents and eddies of the channel where they will compete in the Continental Champs later this month.
